Runway construction sequence, Beaumont, TX, USA
Comment: It's tuff, durable, water resistant and the weather doesn't seem to mess with it at all. In fact it likes hot weather. The hotter the better. I say this because once installed the sun will take any remaining wrinkles completely out. It shrinks big time and that makes for a pretty smooth surface.
#1. This is somewhat stretched out but will be stretched out more.We haven't
begun to tack it down yet....![]() |
#2. This is the same pix as number one.The wind was blowing a bit that day and you really need a calm day to do this. This stuff is like a giant parasail in the wind. It blew this up but all was well. After all is pulled tight without major wrinkles we'll start tacking on the inside overlap. Then to the outside.

#3. This pix is self explanatory. It's just the outside stapled down with a few staples. Many more staples are needed but this was the tacking process.

#4. You can see the tractor at work here. Two tow straps were used. We'll pull it tight and go to tacking the inside overlap....

#5. Once both ends are tacked down a man on both sides directly across from one another can stretch it crosswise and tack it down. I use the word tack because this holds it in place. Again,a lot more staples are needed than the tacking process..

#6. This is the finished product once the sun has done it's job. Things went really smooth this go around... Another thing. When you put a roll of this stuff down where another roll will overlap, use small staples in the first roll just to hold it in place. Because you'll use large staples in the top overlapped roll. This is not critical but makes for a neater finished job.
