Flair Swallow Fuselage Repair by Tom Laird. 17/8/2006

Notes on repairing a Flair Swallow fuselage

It was everyone's nightmare scenario - very fast, very low, and then the enging cut ....
I did manage to hit the runway, but left the ground again and landed in the rough moorland about 50 yards away. The fuse was broken just below the canopy and the front section was fractured but mot badly smashed.

The Repair
The basic strategy is to join the front onto the rear section, then put doublers on the inside and outside to provide additional support.
